The Bet of Curiosity
At eighteen, I was the golden boy of the family—athletic and studious. I had spent my youth in libraries and swimming pools, possessing only a few tentative kisses and a healthy dose of curiosity about the world of adults. I had never considered the possibility of attraction toward another man until the night of Gustavo’s party.
Gustavo was my older cousin, a handsome man in his early twenties who became overly affectionate whenever he drank. That night, as the party wound down, he became the resident nuisance. By three in the morning, the task of escorting him to bed fell to me. I helped him up to his third-floor bedroom, thinking my night of babysitting was almost over.
As I prepared to leave, Gustavo stumbled toward the bathroom, unable to manage his balance. I caught him by the waist, our bodies pressing together in a sudden, electric collision. The scent of expensive cologne and whiskey filled my senses. For a moment, neither of us moved. The air grew heavy with an unspoken tension that defied the familial bond we shared.
He looked at me with glazed eyes, a smirk playing on his lips. ‘You’ve always been so disciplined,’ he whispered, his voice a low rasp. He leaned in, his breath warm against my ear, challenging the boundaries I had spent years constructing. In that instant, the curiosity I had harbored for years ignited into a fierce, undeniable hunger. I didn’t pull away; instead, I tightened my grip, stepping into the unknown of a desire I had never dared to name.
