The Devil’s Masquerade
The October air was crisp, but inside the house, the atmosphere was electric. I felt exposed in the costume Martín had chosen for me—a skintight, crimson bodysuit that clung to every curve of my frame, paired with short leather pants and playful horns. I looked like a seductive little devil, a vision of mischief that drew every eye in the room.
Martín, dressed as a sophisticated vampire, claimed me as his prize for the evening, but his attention quickly shifted to his girlfriend. In a gesture of casual possessiveness, he left me in the care of Carlo, the team’s rookie. Carlo was a quiet, handsome youth with chocolate-colored hair and a gentle gaze that seemed to see right through my facade.
While the party roared around us in the basement, Carlo provided a sanctuary of kindness, draping his jacket over my shoulders to shield me from the predatory stares. As the music slowed, his hand brushed mine, sending a jolt of electricity through my spine. In the dim light of the hallway, away from the crowd, he leaned in, his breath warm against my ear. ‘You are far too beautiful for this game,’ he whispered, his voice a low rumble that made my knees weak. In that moment, the masquerade faded, leaving only the raw, pulsing heat of a connection neither of us could ignore.
