The Echo of a Shared Night
The air in the small guest room was heavy with the scent of rain and the lingering haze of alcohol. We were three friends sharing a cramped space, our mutual companion already lost to a deep, snoring slumber on a thin mattress on the floor. I lay beside Henry, the distance between us vanishing until I could feel the radiating warmth of his body.
In the dim light, I felt a surge of longing that had been simmering for months, a desperate need to finally bridge the gap between friendship and desire. While Henry slept, I began to explore. My fingertips brushed against his hair, then trailed down his jawline and across the smooth skin of his chest. I felt his breath steady, his body relaxed.
When my hand reached his waist, I struggled with the stubborn button of his trousers, but I didn’t let it stop me. I slid my hand inside, feeling the heat of his skin and the sudden, sharp intake of his breath. He wasn’t asleep. His eyes fluttered open, dark and heavy with a mirroring hunger. Without a word, he pulled me closer, our bodies locking together in a frantic, silent dance of rediscovered passion, desperate to remain unheard by the sleeping soul beside us.
