The Unexpected Detour
It started as a Saturday night I had no intention of spending outdoors. I was content in my room in Zacatecas, but a call from my brother reminded me of a friend’s birthday bash in a garage. Reluctantly, I headed out, expecting nothing more than a few beers and some idle chatter.
The party was crowded, filled with familiar faces and the smell of hops. While talking to a cousin, a man approached me. He was around my height, dressed casually with a baseball cap, and looked a bit disheveled. He struck up a conversation about my headphones, and we hit it off instantly. We shared the same name—Jorge—and spent the next hour talking about everything from music to the struggle of flirting with the girls at the party.
When the beer ran out, we volunteered to go buy more. By the time we returned, the party had dwindled; even my brother had left. The other Jorge and I found ourselves alone in the quiet of the night, the air thick with an unexpected tension. What began as a casual friendship shifted into something electric as we shared a lingering look and a sudden, breathless kiss that changed everything.
