Once a day for 45 minutes, I would have one of my students sit on my knee and read a story to the class. This year's student was 14 years old Vanessa, who came running into the classroom with a big smile and started reading. Her legs moved back and forth like a bicycle seat, swinging her legs as she read. When I asked her if she was okay, she just shook her head yes. I couldn't believe how hard it was to talk without making a mess or tripping on my own toes.
