The Final Release
For months, I had been caught in a suffocating limbo. My relationship with Axel had dissolved into a cycle of bitter arguments and cold silences, yet the physical magnetism between us remained an undeniable force. Then there was Richard—my colleague at the real estate firm. Richard was everything a woman could want: tall, blond, with piercing green eyes and a romantic soul that made me feel seen for the first time in years.
I was deeply attracted to Richard, but I imposed a strict rule upon myself. I refused to sleep with him until I knew our connection was permanent. I didn’t want to carry the wreckage of my past into something new. However, the restraint was torture. I was starving for touch, my body humming with a desperate, repressed energy that made every flirtatious glance from Richard feel like an electric shock.
The breaking point came when I had to visit Axel’s apartment to collect my remaining belongings. The air was thick with unresolved tension. As soon as the door closed, the pretense of civility vanished. Axel pinned me against the wall, his kiss desperate and demanding, a collision of hate and hunger. In that moment, the wall I had built around my heart crumbled. I surrendered to the familiar, primal pull of a man I knew I had to leave, using the encounter as a final, explosive purge of my past before I could finally step into the light with Richard.
