Healing Hearts in Secret
I stood on the porch, my heart hammering against my ribs as I pressed the doorbell. When Martin’s mother opened the door, her warm smile didn’t quite mask the knowing look in her eyes. I told her I was worried about him, and she chuckled softly, mentioning that Martin had been heartbroken. She ushered me inside and pointed me toward his room.
I knocked softly. At first, Martin thought it was his mother and told her he wanted to be alone. But when he opened the door and saw me, his expression shifted from anger to sheer shock. He threw his arms around me, only to pull away a moment later, his eyes brimming with tears. He collapsed onto the bed, sobbing about the silence that had grown between us since the incident in the park.
I sat beside him, my own heart breaking. I explained that my silence wasn’t due to a lack of love, but a fear of not being enough. As we spoke, the tension melted away, replaced by a desperate, longing need. He pulled me close, his lips meeting mine in a kiss that tasted of salt and forgiveness, sealing a promise that we would never let the silence win again.
