The Mechanic’s Secret Passion
The summer heat in the city was oppressive, making clothes cling to skin. Julian, a college student home for the break, was fascinated by the small automotive shop at the end of the block. It was run by Felipe, but it was his son, Gustavo, who caught Julian’s eye. Gustavo was twenty-five, with a rugged build and hands perpetually stained with grease.
Julian spent weeks inventing reasons to walk past the garage. One afternoon, while Julian pretended to admire a vintage Mustang, Gustavo stepped out from under a chassis. His gaze was heavy, lingering on Julian’s with an intensity that made the young man’s heart race.
“You’ve been circling this car for ten minutes,” Gustavo said, his voice a low rumble. Julian blushed, unable to look away from the smudges of oil on Gustavo’s cheek. The tension between them was electric, a silent invitation that neither had dared to voice until now.
Gustavo stepped closer, the scent of gasoline and musk enveloping Julian. He reached out, his rough thumb brushing a stray hair from Julian’s forehead. The touch was brief but searing. In that moment, the world outside the garage vanished, leaving only the heat of the afternoon and the magnetic pull between two strangers who were no longer strangers.
