The Morning Ritual
The first light of dawn filtered through the curtains, casting a soft, amber glow across the bedroom. Beside me, Julian slept with a serenity that always touched me, his features softened by slumber. In the quiet of the early hour, he looked almost innocent, reminding me of the vulnerability and purity of a youth long gone. I watched the rhythmic rise and fall of his chest, my heart swelling with a tenderness that felt almost achey.
Slowly, I reached out, resting my palm against his warm skin. I felt the steady, calm thrum of his heart beneath my touch. While he remained adrift in dreams, I began to wake, my senses sharpening as I explored the landscape of his body. My fingers traced light, teasing circles over his chest, drifting downward toward the soft expanse of his stomach. There is a particular softness there, a hidden valley between his navel and his heat that I adore.
Julian stirred, a low moan escaping his lips as he felt my touch. His eyes fluttered open, clouded with sleep but quickly clearing as they met mine. A slow, knowing smile spread across his face, and he pulled me closer, his arm wrapping around my waist to anchor me against him. The world outside ceased to exist; there was only the warmth of our skin and the shared breath of a new day beginning in the most intimate of ways.
