The Persistence of Ricardo
I first noticed Ricardo at the swimming club. He was a striking man—blonde, fair-skinned, with a rugged beard and a masculine, hairy chest that spoke of a raw, virile energy. For months, he tried to catch my eye. In the showers, he would cast inviting glances my way, his expressions bold and hungry, practically begging for my attention. I played the part of the indifferent stranger, showering and dressing quickly before leaving him behind.
But everything changed at a friend’s party. I found Ricardo sitting alone on a bench, far from the noise and laughter of the main room. He looked defeated, his eyes clouded with a sadness that pierced through my indifference. For the first time, when our eyes met, there was no hunger—only a quiet, crushing disappointment. He didn’t try to flirt; he simply sighed and looked away.
The sight of his vulnerability broke something inside me. I stepped closer, the scent of his cologne mixing with the night air. I reached out, my hand brushing his shoulder, and felt him shiver. The tension that had built up over months of avoidance suddenly snapped. He looked up at me, hope flickering in his eyes, and without a word, he pulled me into a fierce, desperate kiss. The raw passion of his embrace told me everything I needed to know: the chase was over, and the real fire had just begun.
