Summer Heat in the City
The August humidity clung to the city like a damp blanket, turning the small apartment into a sauna. Julian leaned against the kitchen counter, watching Elena as she moved through the room. She was wearing a thin, oversized linen shirt that barely grazed her thighs, her skin glowing with a fine sheen of perspiration. They had been dating for two years, but the electric tension between them always felt new.
“It is far too hot to be productive,” Elena murmured, her voice a low honeyed rasp. She stepped closer, the scent of vanilla and salt trailing after her. Julian reached out, his fingers grazing the small of her back, sending a jolt of heat through him that had nothing to do with the weather. He pulled her flush against him, feeling the rapid beat of her heart against his chest.
The air between them thickened as Julian’s hands slid lower, gripping her hips. Elena let out a soft moan, arching her back to meet his touch. The world outside the window—the honking taxis and the shimmering asphalt—ceased to exist. There was only the friction of skin on skin and the desperate, hungry need to be closer.
He lifted her easily, her legs wrapping around his waist as he carried her toward the bedroom. Every kiss was a frantic demand, a release of the tension that had been building all afternoon. As they collapsed onto the cool sheets, the summer heat finally found its match in the fire burning between them.
