The Boldest Bet
Samuel had spent weeks avoiding Adrian. To everyone else, Adrian was the golden boy—wealthy, handsome, and seemingly arrogant. Samuel hated everything he represented, or so he told himself. But as they rehearsed for the upcoming waltz, the facade cracked. He discovered that Adrian was actually attentive, kind, and possessed a physical presence that made Samuel’s heart race every time they touched during a dance step.
Despite the attraction, Samuel had overheard Adrian dismissing another man’s advances with harsh words, claiming he only liked women. The disappointment had been a cold splash of water, convincing Samuel that any spark between them was one-sided. That was until the day of the party.
In a chaotic rush of preparations, a misunderstanding led Adrian to believe Samuel’s bedroom bathroom was vacant. When Samuel stepped out of the shower, he found Adrian standing there, completely stunned. The silence between them was thick with tension, a magnetic pull that neither could ignore. Adrian’s eyes traveled over Samuel’s damp skin, and the mask of the golden boy finally shattered.
“I lied,” Adrian whispered, stepping closer until their chests nearly touched. “I’ve spent months pretending I didn’t want you.” In a sudden, desperate movement, Adrian pulled Samuel into a searing kiss, confirming that the spark had been mutual all along.
